An Internet Banking application upgrade was completed on Wednesday, January 10, 2018.  You will notice minor changes to the log-in process and once you have successfully logged in, the screen format will be slightly different.  All previous functions are still available.  If you have questions or problems, please contact any of our branch offices where we would be glad to assist you.

On Thursday, September 7, 2017, Equifax announced a data breach affecting an estimated 143 million American consumers.  Attackers responsible for the breach may have gained unauthorized access to Social Security Numbers, addresses, dates of birth, and driver’s license numbers.  A smaller yet still substantial group of 209,000 consumers may have had their credit or debit card information compromised as well. Another 182,000 had dispute documents containing personal information accessed.  Equifax has provided a tool which can be used to determine if your information was potentially impacted by the incident.  Please visit the Equifax website to locate the tool.

At Bank of Stronghurst, we suggest our customers consider taking the following steps:

  • Closely monitor all banking and credit card accounts
  • Consider placing a freeze on your credit profiles to prevent a release of your credit report without your consent. Keep in mind a freeze will require additional action in order to avoid delays associated with approvals of credit and certain services.
  • Remember that financial institutions will not contact you to request your personal information unsolicited.  Equifax has specifically stated they will not be reaching out to affected customers via phone unless that person contacted their call center first.
  • The Federal Trade Commission provides guidance on immediate steps consumers should take to repair identity theft.  You may also visit any of our locations to pick up a copy of the FTC guide “Identity Theft – A Recovery Plan” or the FTC brochure “Data Breaches – What to Know, What to do”.
